Part 5 of the Garage Wall Project Build
So, the wall is ready, but we need something to hold on to!
The main purpose of the wall is for training. For the left side of the wall, I purchased the H.I.T. system from Nicros which is mean to be used at the 50° angle. For the right side of the wall, I’ve fabricated a set of campus rungs to be used at the 15° setting. The right side also has room for some additional training holds, which I have set with some slopers at the moment. I purchased a variety of crimps, slopers, jugs, pinches and foot-chips from Atomik Climbing and Three Ball Climbing to allow the setting of additional problems around the training holds, to allow for a little fun as well.
The Nicros H.I.T. system. 8 pinches and 5 strips

Template I made for mounting the pinches consistently at the recommended 10° angle.

Raw stock for fabricating the campus rungs. 1.5″ square poplar
The first corner has been rounded off on the router table.
Both corners rounded off on the router table
Ready to be trimmed down to 1″ wide on the table saw
Trimmed rung vs untrimmed
15° angle cut on one side of the rung
15° angles all cut. The rungs can be mounted two ways. With the angled side up, the surface will remain parallel to the ground. The other way, the rung will slope down to the ground at 15°
Trimming the rungs to their final 16″ length
Rungs trimmed to length
Rungs sanded and drilled for mounting
The angled edge allows the rungs to form this awesome arch
Rungs all ready for mounting
Rungs mounted on the wall
The rungs are mounted and spaced at 22cm, which is the standard “Moon Spacing”
The wall in its stowed position
I also got a set of 3.5″ and 4.5″ beast balls from three-ball climbing
A set of gymnastic rings finishes off my body-weight training area
Yes, the SUV fits under the wall just fine!
